Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Container Ship, responsible for maintaining and operating the vessel's engines and associated equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of marine engineering principles and practices. The 2nd Engineer will work closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The 2nd Engineer's day-to-day duties will include performing routine maintenance and repairs on the vessel's engines and equipment, monitoring and analyzing performance data, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. The 2nd Engineer will also be responsible for supervising junior engineers and engine room crew members. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will participate in safety drills and training exercises to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

What we look for
- Must hold a valid Chief Engineer Officer Certificate of Competency.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a similar type of vessel.
- Must have a strong understanding of marine engineering principles and practices.
- Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Must hold a valid STCW certificate, including survival craft and rescue boat training.
