Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Container Ship, responsible for maintaining and operating the vessel's engines and associated equipment. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work independently. The 2nd Engineer will also assist the Chief Engineer in managing the engine department.
The day-to-day duties of the 2nd Engineer include performing routine maintenance and repairs on the vessel's engines, pumps, and other equipment. The 2nd Engineer will also be responsible for monitoring the vessel's fuel consumption and optimizing engine performance. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will participate in safety drills and training exercises to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

What we look for
- A valid Second Engineer's Certificate of Competency is required.
- At least 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a container ship is necessary.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Ability to pass a medical examination and obtain a valid seafarer's medical certificate is necessary.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations, such as ISM and ISPS, is required.
