Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Container Ship, responsible for maintaining and operating the vessel's main and auxiliary machinery. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work independently. The 2nd Engineer will also assist the Chief Engineer in managing the engine department.
The day-to-day duties of the 2nd Engineer include performing routine maintenance and repairs on the vessel's machinery, monitoring fuel consumption and optimizing engine performance. The 2nd Engineer will also be responsible for supervising junior engineers and motormen, and ensuring that all engine department tasks are completed safely and efficiently. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will participate in cargo operations and other deck activities as required.

What we look for
- Must hold a relevant STCW/CoC certificate, such as a Chief Engineer's certificate of competency.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a container ship or similar vessel.
- Must have a strong knowledge of marine engineering principles and practices.
- Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with crew members and shore-based personnel.
