Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Container Ship, responsible for maintaining and operating the vessel's engines and associated equipment. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The 2nd Engineer will report to the Chief Engineer and assist with the overall management of the engine department.
The 2nd Engineer's day-to-day duties will include performing routine maintenance and repairs on the vessel's engines and equipment, monitoring and analyzing performance data, and implementing modifications and upgrades as needed. The 2nd Engineer will also be responsible for supervising junior engineers and oilers, and providing guidance and training as required. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will participate in safety drills and emergency response procedures.

What we look for
- Must hold a relevant STCW/CoC certificate, such as a Chief Engineer's certificate of competency.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a container ship or similar vessel.
- Must have a strong knowledge of engine maintenance and repair, including diesel engines and associated systems.
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and provide guidance and supervision to junior engineers and oilers.
- Must be proficient in English and have strong communication skills.
