Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Crude oil tanker, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel's machinery. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The 2nd Engineer will report to the Chief Engineer and assist with the overall management of the engine department.
The 2nd Engineer's day-to-day duties will include performing routine maintenance and repairs on the vessel's engines and associated equipment, monitoring and optimizing fuel consumption, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The 2nd Engineer will also be responsible for supervising junior engineers and oilers, and providing guidance and training as needed. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will participate in drills and training exercises to maintain emergency preparedness.

What we look for
- Must hold a valid STCW/CoC certificate as a 2nd Engineer.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a tanker vessel.
- Must have a strong understanding of engine operation and maintenance, including fuel systems and pollution prevention.
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and provide guidance and training to junior crew members.
- Must be proficient in English and able to communicate effectively with other crew members and shore-based personnel.
