Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Crude oil tanker, responsible for maintaining and operating the vessel's engines and associated equipment. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The 2nd Engineer will report to the Chief Engineer and work closely with other crew members to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The 2nd Engineer's day-to-day duties will include performing routine maintenance and repairs on the vessel's engines and equipment, monitoring and analyzing performance data, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. The 2nd Engineer will also be responsible for supervising junior engineers and oilers, and for ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will participate in drills and training exercises to maintain and improve the vessel's safety and emergency response procedures.

What we look for
- A valid STCW Chief Engineer certificate of competency
- At least 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a tanker vessel
- A strong understanding of engine operation and maintenance, including familiarity with relevant regulations and standards
- A high school diploma or equivalent, with a degree in a relevant field such as marine engineering or a related discipline
- Ability to pass a medical examination and obtain any necessary visas or travel documents
