Role overview

The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Crude oil tanker, responsible for maintaining and operating the vessel's engines and associated equipment. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and experience working with large marine diesel engines. The 2nd Engineer will work closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.

The 2nd Engineer's day-to-day duties will include performing routine maintenance and repairs on the vessel's engines, pumps, and other equipment. They will also be responsible for monitoring the vessel's fuel consumption and optimizing engine performance to minimize fuel waste. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will participate in drills and training exercises to ensure preparedness in case of emergencies.
