The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a General Cargo Vessel, responsible for maintaining and operating the ship's engines and related equipment. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work independently. The 2nd Engineer will also assist the Chief Engineer in planning and implementing maintenance and repair activities.

The 2nd Engineer's day-to-day duties will include monitoring and maintaining the ship's engines, pumps, and other machinery, as well as performing routine maintenance and repairs. The 2nd Engineer will also be responsible for keeping accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, and for ordering spare parts and supplies as needed. In addition, the 2nd Engineer will work closely with other members of the engine department to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the ship.

Requirements

  • OKMust hold a relevant STCW/CoC certificate as a 2nd Engineer.

  • OKMust have a strong knowledge of engine maintenance and repair procedures.
  • OKMust be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • OKMust have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
