Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a General Cargo Vessel, responsible for maintaining and operating the ship's engines and related equipment. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work independently. The 2nd Engineer will report to the Chief Engineer and work closely with other crew members to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The 2nd Engineer's day-to-day duties will include performing routine maintenance and repairs on the ship's engines, pumps, and other equipment. They will also be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the vessel's fuel and lubrication systems, as well as performing troubleshooting and repair work as needed. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will be required to keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work, and to participate in safety drills and training exercises.

What we look for
- A valid STCW/CoC certificate as a 2nd Engineer is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a merchant vessel is required.
- A strong understanding of marine engineering principles and practices is necessary.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A valid medical certificate is required.
