Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Very Large Crude Carrier. This role involves overseeing the maintenance and operation of the vessel's engines and associated equipment. The 2nd Engineer reports directly to the Chief Engineer and plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The 2nd Engineer's day-to-day duties include monitoring and maintaining the vessel's engines, pumps, and other equipment, as well as performing routine maintenance and repairs. The 2nd Engineer is also responsible for managing the vessel's fuel and lubricant systems, and for ensuring compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will be required to keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs, and to participate in safety drills and training exercises.

What we look for
- Must hold a valid STCW Chief Engineer certificate of competency.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a tanker vessel.
- Must have a strong knowledge of engine maintenance and repair procedures.
- Must be able to work well under pressure and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
- Must be proficient in English, both written and spoken.
