Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Very Large Gas Carrier. This role involves overseeing the maintenance and operation of the vessel's engines and associated equipment. The 2nd Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer and is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The day-to-day duties of the 2nd Engineer include performing routine maintenance tasks, monitoring engine performance, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. The 2nd Engineer is also responsible for managing the vessel's fuel and lubricant supplies, as well as supervising junior engineering staff. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.

What we look for
- Relevant STCW/CoC certificate for a 2nd Engineer on a gas tanker.
- At least 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a similar vessel type.
- Strong knowledge of engine maintenance and repair procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues.
- Valid medical certificate and completion of all required safety training.
