Role overview
The 2nd Officer is a key member of the deck team on a General Cargo Vessel, responsible for navigating the ship and ensuring the safety of the crew, cargo, and vessel. This role requires strong navigation and communication skills. The 2nd Officer will work closely with the Master and other deck officers to achieve safe and efficient operations.
The 2nd Officer's day-to-day duties at sea will include navigating the vessel, maintaining deck equipment, and supervising cargo operations. The 2nd Officer will also be responsible for keeping accurate records of navigation, cargo, and safety equipment. Additionally, the 2nd Officer will participate in drills and training exercises to maintain emergency preparedness.

What we look for
- Holder of a valid Officer of the Watch (OOW) certificate of competency
- At least 12 months of experience as a deck officer on a merchant vessel
- Good understanding of navigation, cargo operations, and safety procedures
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
