Role overview
The 2nd Officer is a key member of the deck team on a General Cargo Vessel, responsible for navigating the ship and maintaining deck operations. This role requires strong navigation and communication skills. The 2nd Officer will work closely with the Master and other deck officers to ensure safe and efficient cargo operations.
The 2nd Officer's day-to-day duties will include navigating the ship, maintaining navigation equipment, and performing cargo watches. They will also be responsible for monitoring weather and sea conditions, and taking corrective action as needed. Additionally, the 2nd Officer will participate in drills and training exercises to maintain emergency preparedness.

What we look for
- Hold a valid Officer of the Watch (OOW) certificate of competency
- Have at least 12 months of experience as a deck officer on a merchant vessel
- Hold a valid GMDSS certificate
- Have a good understanding of ISM and ISPS codes
- Be proficient in English language
