Role overview
The 2nd Officer is a key member of the deck team on a General Cargo Vessel, responsible for supporting the Chief Officer and Master in all aspects of navigation and cargo operations. This role requires a high level of professionalism and adherence to safety protocols. The 2nd Officer will also be involved in maintaining the vessel's deck and superstructure.
The 2nd Officer's day-to-day duties will include navigating the vessel, maintaining navigational equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. They will also be responsible for supervising deck crew members and participating in cargo operations. Additionally, the 2nd Officer will be required to keep accurate records and reports, including navigational logs and cargo documents.

What we look for
- Must hold a valid Officer of the Watch (OOW) certificate of competency.
- Must have at least 12 months of experience as a deck officer on a merchant vessel.
- Must have a good understanding of International Maritime Organization (IMO) and International Safety Management (ISM) codes.
- Must be proficient in English, both written and spoken.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and follow safety protocols.
