The 3rd Engineer assists the Chief Engineer in operating and maintaining the main and auxiliary machinery of a bulk carrier. You will be part of a small engine team responsible for safe, efficient propulsion and power generation. The role includes routine inspections and record‑keeping in compliance with flag state regulations.
Daily duties involve monitoring engine performance, conducting preventive maintenance on pumps, compressors and generators, and troubleshooting any faults that arise at sea. You will assist with fuel and oil sampling, maintain spare parts inventory, and support the 2nd Engineer during watch changes. Reporting of machinery status to the bridge and updating technical logs are also required.

Requirements
- OK**
- OK- STCW 95/96 basic safety and advanced fire fighting, Engine Officer Certificate of Competency (2nd/3rd Engineer)
- OK- Minimum 2 years sea service as 3rd Engineer on a bulk carrier or similar vessel
- OK- Proficiency with diesel engine monitoring systems and basic electrical troubleshooting
- OK- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals and maintenance schedules
- OK- Good command of English, both written and spoken
