The 3rd Officer is a key member of the deck team on a General Cargo Vessel, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the ship.
This role involves a range of tasks, including navigation, cargo operations, and maintenance.
The 3rd Officer will work closely with the Master and other officers to achieve these goals.
The day-to-day duties of the 3rd Officer at sea include navigating the vessel, monitoring cargo operations, and performing routine maintenance tasks.
The 3rd Officer will also be responsible for keeping accurate records and reports, and for participating in drills and training exercises.
Additionally, the 3rd Officer will be expected to stand watch and respond to emergencies as needed.

The role should be assessed around bridge or deck watchkeeping, cargo or passenger safety, mooring discipline, emergency response and clear record keeping.

What we look for
- Must hold a valid Officer of the Watch (OOW) certificate of competency.
- Must have completed all required STCW training, including survival craft and fire fighting.
- Must have at least 12 months of experience as a junior officer on a merchant vessel.
- Must have a good understanding of cargo operations and navigation.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
