Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a bulk carrier, responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of the vessel's engines and associated equipment. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and leadership skills. The Chief Engineer will work closely with other crew members to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties include overseeing routine maintenance and repairs, managing fuel consumption and emissions, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for training and supervising junior engineering staff and managing the engine department's budget. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will participate in safety drills and emergency response procedures.

What we look for
- A valid Chief Engineer's Certificate of Competency (CoC) issued by a recognized maritime authority is required.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a bulk carrier or similar vessel.
- A strong understanding of engine maintenance and repair procedures.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
