Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a senior management level position on a Bulk carrier, responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of the vessel's engine department. This role requires strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers. The Chief Engineer will work closely with the Captain and other senior officers to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties will include overseeing routine maintenance and repairs, managing fuel consumption and emissions, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for training and supervising junior engineers and coordinating with shore-based teams to plan and execute maintenance and repair work. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will investigate and resolve technical issues that arise during voyages.

What we look for
- Must hold a valid Chief Engineer's STCW certificate of competency.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a bulk carrier or similar vessel type.
- Must have a strong knowledge of engine maintenance and repair, including diesel engines and associated systems.
- Must have excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
