Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a senior management level position on a Bulk carrier, responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the vessel's engine department. This role requires strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers. The Chief Engineer will work closely with the Captain and other senior officers to ensure safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties include planning and executing maintenance and repair work, managing fuel consumption and optimizing engine performance. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for training and supervising junior engineers, as well as conducting regular safety inspections and drills. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including those related to safety, security, and environmental protection.

What we look for
- Relevant STCW/CoC certificate as Chief Engineer
- At least 2 years of experience as Chief Engineer on a bulk carrier or similar vessel type
- Strong knowledge of engine maintenance and repair, as well as fuel management and optimization
- Ability to lead and manage a team of engineers
- High school diploma or equivalent, with a degree in marine engineering or a related field preferred
