Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a key role on a Bulk carrier, responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the vessel's engine department. This includes ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, as well as optimizing engine performance to minimize fuel consumption. The Chief Engineer will work closely with the Captain and other crew members to achieve these goals.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties at sea will include monitoring and maintaining the main engine, auxiliary engines, and other equipment, as well as performing routine inspections and repairs. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for managing the engine department's budget and inventory, and for training and supervising junior engineers. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will be required to respond to emergencies and make decisions quickly to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.

What we look for
- Must hold a valid Chief Engineer's Certificate of Competency (CoC) issued by a recognized maritime authority.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a bulk carrier or similar vessel type.
- Must have a strong knowledge of engine maintenance and repair, as well as safety and environmental regulations.
- Must be able to work independently and make decisions quickly in emergency situations.
- Must be proficient in English, both written and spoken.
