Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a key member of the engine department on our bulk carrier vessels, responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of the ship's engines and associated equipment. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and leadership skills. The Chief Engineer will work closely with other crew members to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties include overseeing routine maintenance and repairs, managing fuel consumption and emissions, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for training and supervising junior engineering staff and managing the engine department's budget. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will be required to respond to emergencies and make critical decisions to ensure the safety of the vessel and its crew.

What we look for
- Valid Chief Engineer's Certificate of Competency
- At least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a bulk carrier or similar vessel
- Strong knowledge of engine maintenance and repair procedures
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in high-pressure situations
- Good communication and leadership skills
