Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a senior management position on a Container Ship responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the vessel's engine department. This role requires strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers. The Chief Engineer will work closely with the Captain and other senior officers to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties include overseeing routine maintenance and repairs, managing fuel consumption and emissions, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for training and mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with shore-based teams to resolve technical issues. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.

What we look for
- Must hold a valid Chief Engineer's Certificate of Competency (CoC) issued by a recognized maritime authority
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a similar type of vessel
- Must have a strong understanding of engine maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting
- Must be proficient in safety and environmental regulations, including ISM and ISPS codes
- Must have excellent leadership and communication skills
