Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a senior officer responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of the engine department on a Container Ship. This role requires strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers. The Chief Engineer will work closely with the Captain and other officers to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties include overseeing routine maintenance, troubleshooting technical issues, and managing fuel consumption to optimize vessel performance. They will also be responsible for implementing safety procedures and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will conduct regular inspections and repairs to prevent equipment failures and minimize downtime.

What we look for
- A valid Chief Engineer's STCW certificate of competency
- At least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a similar type of vessel
- Strong knowledge of engine maintenance and repair procedures
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- A high school diploma or equivalent in a relevant field
