The Chief Engineer will oversee the main engine department of a 200,000‑dwt crude oil tanker, ensuring safe and efficient operation of all propulsion and cargo handling machinery. You will be responsible for maintaining compliance with classification societies and flag state regulations throughout the voyage.

Daily duties include supervising watch‑keeping engineers, planning and executing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting any machinery failures that arise at sea. You will manage spare parts inventory, coordinate repairs with the ship’s crew, and prepare technical reports for the shipowner. Additionally, you will conduct regular safety drills and ensure all engineering personnel follow environmental and safety procedures.

Requirements

  • OKSTCW 2/1 Chief Engineer Certificate and valid Flag State CoC
  • OKMinimum 5 years experience as Chief Engineer on crude oil tankers ≥150,000 dwt
  • OKProven knowledge of IMO MARPOL, ISM, and ISPS codes
  • OKAbility to lead a multicultural engineering team and conduct training sessions
  • OKExcellent record of safety performance and no major marine incidents in the past 3 years
