The Chief Engineer will be the senior technical officer on a crude oil tanker, responsible for the overall operation, maintenance and performance of the main and auxiliary machinery. You will ensure compliance with all safety, environmental and regulatory requirements while optimizing fuel consumption and engine efficiency.
Day‑to‑day duties include supervising the engine department crew, planning and executing planned maintenance systems, and overseeing repairs and troubleshooting of propulsion and cargo handling equipment. You will prepare technical reports, manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with the ship’s master on operational matters. The role also requires monitoring condition‑based monitoring systems and ensuring all certifications and inspections are up to date.

Requirements
- OKValid Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (CoC) for tankers (STCW 2010)
- OKMinimum 5 years sea‑service as a Chief Engineer on crude oil or product tankers
- OKProven experience with diesel‑electric or low‑speed diesel propulsion systems
- OKStrong knowledge of MARPOL, SOLAS, ISM Code and tanker‑specific regulations
- OKLeadership skills, good communication and ability to work under pressure
