Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a senior officer responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of the engine department on a crude oil tanker. This role requires strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers. The Chief Engineer must ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties include overseeing routine maintenance, troubleshooting engine problems, and managing fuel consumption to optimize vessel performance. The Chief Engineer is also responsible for training and supervising junior engineers and ensuring that all engine department personnel follow safety procedures. Additionally, the Chief Engineer must maintain accurate records of engine performance and maintenance activities.

What we look for
- Relevant STCW/CoC certificate as Chief Engineer
- At least 2 years of experience as Chief Engineer on a tanker vessel
- Strong knowledge of engine maintenance and repair procedures
- Ability to lead and manage a team of engineers
- High school diploma or equivalent required
