Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a crude oil tanker, responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of the vessel's engines and related systems. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and leadership skills. The Chief Engineer will work closely with other crew members to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties will include overseeing routine maintenance and repairs, managing fuel consumption and emissions, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for training and supervising junior engineering staff and coordinating with the bridge team to optimize vessel performance. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address any potential issues.

What we look for
- Must hold a valid Chief Engineer's STCW certificate of competency.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a tanker vessel.
- Must have a strong knowledge of engine maintenance and repair, as well as safety and environmental regulations.
- Must have excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
