Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a senior management level position on a General Cargo Vessel responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of the ship's engine department. This role requires strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers. The Chief Engineer will work closely with the Captain and other senior officers to ensure safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties include overseeing routine maintenance and repairs of engine room equipment, managing fuel consumption and optimizing vessel performance. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for implementing safety procedures and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement.

What we look for
- Must hold a valid Chief Engineer's Certificate of Competency (CoC) issued by a recognized maritime authority.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a similar type of vessel.
- Must have a strong knowledge of engine room operations and maintenance procedures.
- Must be able to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
- Must have excellent communication and leadership skills.
