Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a senior officer responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of the vessel's engine department. This role is crucial to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. The Chief Engineer will work closely with other officers and crew members to achieve this goal.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties include overseeing the maintenance and repair of engine room machinery, managing fuel consumption and emissions, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for training and supervising junior engineers and engine room crew members. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will conduct regular inspections and maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures and minimize downtime.

What we look for
- A valid Chief Engineer's STCW certificate of competency is required.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a similar type of vessel is necessary.
- A strong understanding of engine room operations and maintenance is essential.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills are required to effectively manage and supervise the engine room crew.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a degree in marine engineering or a related field being preferred.
