Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a senior management position on our Oil/chemical tanker vessel, responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the ship's engine department. This role requires strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. The Chief Engineer will work closely with other departments to achieve company goals.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties include overseeing engine maintenance, managing fuel consumption, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for training and supervising junior engineers and coordinating with shore-based teams for spare parts and technical support. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.

What we look for
- Must hold a valid Chief Engineer's STCW certificate of competency.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a similar type of vessel.
- Must have a strong understanding of engine maintenance and repair procedures.
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and lead junior engineers.
- Must be proficient in English and have strong communication skills.
