Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a senior management level position on board an oil/chemical tanker, responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the vessel's engineering department. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and leadership skills to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. The Chief Engineer will work closely with the Captain and other senior officers to achieve this goal.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties include overseeing the maintenance and repair of the vessel's engines, pumps, and other equipment, as well as managing the engineering department's budget and resources. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including those related to safety and environmental protection. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will provide guidance and training to junior engineering officers and crew members.

What we look for
- A valid Chief Engineer's STCW certificate of competency
- At least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a similar type of vessel
- A strong understanding of engine operation and maintenance, as well as safety and environmental regulations
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- A high school diploma or equivalent, with a degree in a relevant field preferred
