Role overview
The Chief Officer is a senior officer on a Bulk carrier responsible for overseeing cargo operations and deck maintenance. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations. The Chief Officer will also be involved in navigation and collision prevention.
The Chief Officer's day-to-day duties at sea include supervising cargo loading and discharging, performing safety inspections, and maintaining deck equipment. The Chief Officer will also be responsible for navigating the vessel and preventing collisions. Additionally, the Chief Officer will oversee the maintenance of cargo handling gear and other deck equipment.
