Role overview

The Chief Officer is a senior crew member responsible for the safe operation of the vessel. This role involves overseeing cargo operations and maintaining the ship's deck and superstructure. The Chief Officer will work closely with the Master to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

The Chief Officer's day-to-day duties include supervising deck crew, managing cargo plans, and maintaining deck equipment. They will also be responsible for conducting safety drills and training crew members. Additionally, the Chief Officer will participate in navigation watches and contribute to the overall safety of the vessel.
