Role overview
The Fitter/Welder will be part of the deck department on a General Cargo Vessel, responsible for maintaining and repairing ship equipment and machinery. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems and welding techniques. The Fitter/Welder will work closely with other crew members to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The day-to-day duties of the Fitter/Welder will include performing repairs and maintenance on deck equipment, such as cranes and winches, as well as welding and fabricating parts as needed. The Fitter/Welder will also be responsible for inspecting and testing equipment to ensure it is in good working order. Additionally, the Fitter/Welder will assist with other deck operations as required.

What we look for
- Must hold a relevant STCW/CoC certificate
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Fitter/Welder on a merchant vessel
- Must have a strong understanding of mechanical systems and welding techniques
- Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to communicate effectively with other crew members
