Role overview
The Fitter/Welder will be part of the deck department on a General Cargo Vessel, responsible for maintaining and repairing ship equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical and welding principles. The Fitter/Welder will work closely with other crew members to ensure the vessel operates safely and efficiently.
The Fitter/Welder's day-to-day duties will include performing repairs and maintenance on deck equipment, such as cranes and winches, as well as welding and fabricating parts as needed. They will also be responsible for troubleshooting mechanical issues and implementing solutions. Additionally, the Fitter/Welder will assist with cargo operations and other tasks as required by the deck officer.

What we look for
- Must hold a relevant STCW/CoC certificate
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Fitter/Welder on a merchant vessel
- Must have a strong understanding of mechanical and welding principles
- Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to communicate effectively with other crew members
