Role overview
The Motorman/Oiler is a crucial member of the engine department on our General Cargo Vessel, responsible for maintaining and operating the vessel's engines and associated equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of engine mechanics and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The Motorman/Oiler will report to the Chief Engineer and work closely with other engine department personnel.
The day-to-day duties of the Motorman/Oiler include performing routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes and filter replacements, monitoring engine performance and reporting any issues to the Chief Engineer, and participating in emergency drills and training exercises. The Motorman/Oiler will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the engine room and surrounding areas. Additionally, the Motorman/Oiler will assist with cargo operations and other tasks as directed by the Chief Engineer.

What we look for
- Relevant STCW/CoC certificate as a Motorman/Oiler or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role on a merchant vessel.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions from senior officers.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent, with a strong understanding of engine mechanics and maintenance principles.
