Role overview

The Pumpman is a critical member of the deck crew on our oil/chemical tanker, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of cargo pumps and associated equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of cargo handling systems and procedures. The Pumpman will work closely with other deck crew members to ensure smooth cargo operations.

The day-to-day duties of the Pumpman include monitoring and maintaining cargo pumps, valves, and piping systems, as well as performing routine tests and inspections to ensure equipment is functioning properly. The Pumpman will also be responsible for troubleshooting issues with cargo equipment and assisting with cargo operations as needed. Additionally, the Pumpman will maintain accurate records of cargo handling and equipment maintenance.
