Things To Do At Enchantment Of The Seas

Royal Caribbean International operates the World-class cruise ship Enchantment of the Seas. This ship was built in 1997 at Kvaerner Masa-Yards' Helsinki, Finland, shipyard before receiving comprehensive modernization in 2017. It weighs 82,910 gross tons, is 988 feet (301 meters) long, and can accommodate 2,446 passengers.

The purchase of Enchantment of the Seas tickets can be completed by either visiting Royal Caribbean International online or working with a travel agency. The Royal Caribbean Cruise Planner website enables you to pre-book shows and activities available onboard. Booking ahead is the optimal time to get the best price and availability of tickets.

The Enchantment of the Seas travels mainly between Western and Southern Caribbean areas, starting its journeys from Tampa to Florida. Travelers across the world choose destinations such as Cozumel, Mexico, George Town, Grand Cayman, Basseterre, St. Kitts, and Perfect Day at CocoCay from Royal Caribbean International. Passengers can take weekend vacation routes through the Bahamas aboard the ship.

Best Activities to do on Enchantment of the Seas

The Enchantment of the Seas offers a wide range of activities and amenities to keep guests entertained throughout their voyage. Here are some highlights:

Theater and Shows on Enchantment of the Seas

The two-story, 870-passenger Orpheum Theater hosts some of Enchantment of the Seas' afternoon activities, including a love and marriage game show that takes place once per sailing and, of course, evening shows. On rainy cruises, you'll also find one or two contemporary films shown daily.

On four and five night cruises, you'll enjoy two-stage cabaret shows, a fun way to spend an evening after dinner. Shows are usually twice per night to accommodate different dinner times.

The best shows are performed by guest artists, often comedians, magicians, or hypnotists.

Daily Activities on Enchantment of the Seas

You'll find that on Enchantment of the Seas, there's a wide variety of daytime activities available, with a wider selection of activities on sea days and fewer on port days. Activities are listed in the print version of the Cruise Compass or the app. They are divided into Activities to Do (mostly auctions or casino games), Wellness and Retail Therapy (mostly spa "seminars" and retail store activities), Music and Dance, and Entertainment.

Typical daily activities include trivia sessions (general knowledge and themed), bingo (extra charge), scavenger hunts, cupcake decorating (extra charge), belly dancing or sexiest man contests by the pool, art auctions, and dance lessons. Many of the events take place in the Centrum (the ship's fifth-floor fifth-floor lobby), and when there aren't any games or shows, there's almost always live music.

Nightlife on Enchantment of the Seas

In addition to the nightly theatre shows, you can enjoy live music at several venues on the ship. The most popular venues are the Latin music in the Boleros Lounge and the piano music in the Schooner Bar. The latter has a lingering, lively sound.

One of the most popular venues at night is the Spotlight Lounge, where you can enjoy nightly karaoke performances. It's always packed, and almost every night, could hear boos when the hosts said they were done for the night (usually around 10:30 pm).

Dancers gather either in the Centrum (couples dance until around 11 pm) or in the Viking Crown Lounge for upbeat DJ music after 10:30 pm.

Another attraction on the ship is the casino, where passengers look to try their luck at slot machines, poker tables, roulette and craps games.

Enchantment of the Seas Bars and Lounges

Highlights include:

R Bar (4th floor): Located on the Centrum side, this bar offers a wide range of cocktails, including martinis, gelato, whiskeys, and champagne blends. It also has a selection of beer and wine. This bar is always busy as the Centrum hosts many events throughout the day.

Boleros Lounge (5th floor): Although it may be one of the most fun places on other ships, this lounge is rarely crowded during a cruise. Live Latin-style music is played here every afternoon and evening; during the day, the space is used for various daytime events, such as drink-making classes. This is also the best place on the ship to drink a mojito.

Casino Bar (5th floor): The Casino Bar is the only smoking bar on the ship and is located on one side of the casino.

Schooner Bar (6th floor): The nautical-themed Schooner Bar is the hub of activity on Enchantment of the Seas, where you can learn all about the ship during the day and listen to lively piano music at night. The bar is open all day, and cruisers can enjoy quick interactions with the friendly bartenders. You'll find a wide selection of cocktails, beer, and wine.

Spotlight Lounge (6th floor): The Spotlight Lounge is a large auxiliary theater located at the back of the ship on Deck 6. It is often used for events such as bingo, art workshops, auctions, and interactive game shows ("Majority Rules," "Family Feud," "Quest") but is busiest between 8:30 and 10:30 each night when the karaoke begins.

It is usually packed with people, and people start singing and dancing when the time is right. (Dancing and twirling to Garth Brook's Friends in Low Places was one of the most impressive performances we've seen on the ship.)

Viking Crown Lounge (11th floor): The Viking Crown Lounge has floor-to-ceiling windows that give you the most beautiful views. During the day, it's pretty quiet, with people reading or playing cards in small groups, but around 11 p.m., it starts to get lively with DJs playing music and lots of dancing. If you like a dance club vibe, then Viking Crown is for you.

Diamond Club (Deck 12): The Diamond Club is an exclusive lounge located at the highest level on the ship, open only to the highest-level members of the Royal Caribbean loyalty program.

Public Rooms

Pools and Hot Tubs on Enchantment of the Seas

Enchantment of the Seas has three pools, all located on Deck 9: two outdoors on the main pool deck and one in the enclosed solarium. Four hot tubs surround the outdoor pools, and two in the solarium.

The two outdoor pools are deep, but there are shallow areas around them where you can wade. Families will find a PFD (personal flotation device) station for small children, and lifeguards are always on duty during opening hours. Next to the two outdoor pools is a small children's splashing area with a fountain that constantly sprays water.

There are plenty of lounge chairs surrounding the pools, both inside and outside the solarium. Additionally, on Deck 10 overlooking the two outdoor pools, you'll find more lounge chairs, including some in the shade - but be careful, as the sun moves across the sky, so does the shade.

The pools can be quiet or boisterous, depending on the crowd and poolside activities (think diving competitions, poolside movies, and sports competitions between passengers and officers).

Rock Climbing Wall on Enchantment of the Seas

Enchantment of the Seas has an impressive rock climbing wall aft on deck 10. It's free, but be sure to check the cruise compass for hours. Minimum age is 6.

You'll also find a ping-pong table on deck 9. There's no sports deck on Enchantment of the Seas, so there's no place to play basketball or volleyball.

Sun Deck on Enchantment of the Seas

You'll find sun deck space all around the outdoor pools on decks 9 and 10, running nearly from front to back. There's also plenty of lounging space inside the adults-only solarium (strictly for ages 16 and up). While the roof can be opened, it never did during sunny five-night cruise, so it's not the best place to be if you want to work on your tan.

The solarium is always a quiet place to relax, while music is almost always played by the two main pools, which can get quite loud during events such as diving competitions, passenger-versus-officer water volleyball, or the Sexiest Man Contest.

Enchantment of the Seas Services, Shops, and Wi-Fi

Most of Enchantment of the Seas' main services can be found on Level 5, including Guest Services and the Excursions Desk (discounts are available for booking excursions online before your cruise). Shops (fine jewelry, alcohol, tobacco, Royal Caribbean-branded souvenirs, etc.), an art gallery, a photo studio, and a camera shop are located on Level 6.

There are also meeting rooms on Level 6, as well as the NextCruise Desk, which makes it easy for passengers to book their next cruise while on board.

Royal Caribbean offers a variety of unlimited Wi-Fi packages, which are available as per-cruise packages. Packages are available for either Internet access on one, two, or four devices or full Internet access and streaming (also available on one, two, or four devices).

There is no self-service laundry service on Enchantment of the Seas, but mid-cruise, you will be given a special gift bag filled with socks, underwear, shorts, T-shirts, swimwear, and pajamas. Medical facilities are located on Level 1.

Spa and Fitness

The Vitality Spa on Level 9 is a peaceful respite from cruise life. It offers a range of treatments, including massages, facials, body scrubs, ion heat therapy, and salon services such as hair and nail treatments. Prices are higher than what you would normally pay at home.

Be careful when paying at the end. An 18% gratuity is automatically added, but there is room for additional gratuities, so be careful not to over-tip—unless you want to. The spa is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Enchantment of the Seas Gym

To access Enchantment of the Seas' Vitality Fitness Center, enter through the spa entrance and take the stairs up one level. You'll find a medium-sized gym with plenty of Life Fitness treadmills and elliptical machines. There are also several recumbent bikes, weight machines, exercise balls, free weights up to 90 pounds, and yoga mats for anyone who wants to do floor exercises, though you may have trouble finding space to place them.

There are also a few spinning bikes, but they are only available for classes that cost extra. Other classes include free stretching and abs classes, as well as pilates and yoga for an additional fee. Private training is available for a fee. Joggers can take advantage of the outdoor jogging track (deck 10).

Kids' Fun Activities on Enchantment of the Seas

Is Enchantment of the Seas family-friendly?

Royal Caribbean has one of the best children's programs in the cruise industry, centered around the ship's Adventure Seas kids' club and the Royal Nursery for infants and toddlers. While daytime activities are free, Enchantment of the Seas also offers late-night group childcare for children ages 3 to 11 from 10 pm to 12 am for an additional fee charged per child hour.

The ship doesn't offer any dedicated family rooms, but there are plenty of connecting cabins and rooms that can accommodate up to five people. There are also two-room suites that can accommodate up to eight people.

In addition to the Adventure Seas program, kids will find plenty of activities to keep them busy, from a rock climbing wall to a game room with games like foosball and air hockey. (Parents should note that all rides are extra, so you may want to discuss with your child how much you want them to spend — or work with Guest Services to set a limit on their SeaPass card.)

Enchantment of the Seas also has Adventure Dining, where children can enjoy lunch with Adventure Ocean staff. For dinner, families can sign up for "My Family Dining Time," which expedites the children's meal so that Adventure Ocean staff can pick them up at 6:40 pm and parents can finish their meal without their children.

For the youngest cruisers (6 months to 3 years old), Enchantment of the Seas offers Royal Infant and Toddler Childcare during the day and at night. The service costs $6 per child per hour during the day (until 6 pm) and $8 per child per hour during the night. Parents must provide diapers, wipes, and personal items, but the ship will require meals for children.

Hours at sea are 9 am to noon and 6:45 pm to midnight. On days at sea, there are also free play areas where parents can bring their children.

On port days, parents must reserve daytime use 24 hours in advance.

It offers an autism-friendly toy loaner program for families with children on the autism spectrum. Upon request, Adventure Ocean staff will provide a bag of autism-friendly toys for use on Adventure Ocean or in the room.

Magic of the Seas has a curfew for younger passengers; all passengers 17 years or younger must be in their stateroom by 1 am unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Enchantments of the Seas Kids Club: Ocean Adventures

Ocean Adventures is divided into four programs: Aquanauts (ages 3-5), Explorers (ages 6-8), Voyagers (ages 9-11), and Teen Fuel. To join Aquanauts, all children ages three and older must be fully toilet trained and out of diapers.

All children ages 3-8 must be registered on their first day on Adventure Ocean and picked up by a parent or guardian. (Give yourself some time to register and connect, as this process often takes longer than expected.) With parental consent, children ages 6 to 8 may self-register and leave the program during sea activities.

Activities vary by age group and may include bubble science experiments, story time, and face painting for seafarers; science fun, including space slime, fossil fever, and weather madness; arts, crafts, and tracking games for explorers; and sports competitions, video game competitions, and building competitions for travelers.

While hours may vary, generally speaking, on sea days, the Underwater Navigator, Explorer, and Voyager programs are open from 9 am to noon, 2 pm to 5 pm, and 6:45 pm to 10 pm. On port days, docking hours are generally 9 am to 5 pm and 6:45 pm to 10 pm, but parents may bring their children earlier if the ship arrives in port before 9 am.

In this case, parents can pick up their children up to 30 minutes before the scheduled arrival time.

Parents should also be aware that if a child remains in the facility after closing time until they are picked up, a late fee of $1 per minute (minus a 15-minute grace period) will be charged. (This fee is waived if your shore excursion is delayed.)

Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult while in the pools. Lifeguards are also on duty, and personal flotation devices (e.g., life jackets) are available for loan. Children must be fully toilet trained to use any of the ship's pools; swim diapers are not permitted.

Teens on Enchantment of the Seas

Teens are gathered on Enchantment of the Seas, and everyone between the ages of 12 and 17 is assigned to a Fuel Teen Club. Sea Days last all day, starting at 10 am, breaking from noon to 2 pm, breaking again from 5 pm to 8 pm, and ending at 1 am, when a curfew begins for those under 18 on board.

Daily port opening hours depend on how long the ship is in port but always start at 8 pm.

Activities vary from day to day but may include songs, treasure hunts, general games, movies, and themed evenings. There is also space for teenagers to relax or play board games. Fuel also has a dance floor and a small "bar" where children can order non-alcoholic drinks (for a fee).
