Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a bulk carrier, responsible for maintaining and operating the vessel's engines and associated equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of marine engineering principles and practices. The 2nd Engineer will work closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The 2nd Engineer's day-to-day duties will include performing routine maintenance and repairs on the vessel's engines and equipment, monitoring and analyzing performance data, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. The 2nd Engineer will also be responsible for supervising junior engineers and oilers, and for ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with safety protocols and regulations. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will participate in drills and training exercises to maintain emergency preparedness.

What we look for
- Relevant STCW/CoC certificate as a 2nd Engineer
- At least 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a bulk carrier or similar vessel
- Strong knowledge of marine engineering principles and practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High school diploma or equivalent required
