Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Container Ship, responsible for maintaining and operating the vessel's engines and associated equipment. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work independently. The 2nd Engineer will also assist the Chief Engineer in planning and implementing maintenance and repair activities.
The day-to-day duties of the 2nd Engineer include performing routine maintenance tasks, monitoring engine performance, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. The 2nd Engineer will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, as well as ordering spare parts and supplies as needed. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will work closely with other members of the engine department to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.

What we look for
- Must hold a relevant STCW/CoC certificate, such as a Second Engineer's Certificate of Competency.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a container ship or similar vessel.
- Must have a strong understanding of engine maintenance and repair, including diesel engines and associated systems.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Must be physically fit and able to pass a medical examination.
