Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Crewell Oil tanker. This role involves overseeing the maintenance and operation of the vessel's engines and associated equipment. The 2nd Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer and is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the engine department.
The 2nd Engineer's day-to-day duties include performing routine maintenance and repairs on engines and equipment, monitoring fuel consumption and optimizing engine performance. The 2nd Engineer also assists with cargo operations and ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer participates in drills and training exercises to maintain emergency preparedness.

What we look for
- Must hold a valid STCW Chief Engineer certificate of competency.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a merchant vessel.
- Must have experience with oil tanker operations and cargo handling.
- Must have a strong understanding of engine maintenance and repair procedures.
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with crew members.
