Role overview
The 2nd Officer is a key member of the deck team on a General Cargo Vessel, responsible for navigating the ship and maintaining deck operations. This role requires a strong understanding of cargo handling and navigation. The 2nd Officer will work closely with the Master and other deck officers to ensure safe and efficient operations.
The 2nd Officer's day-to-day duties will include navigating the ship, maintaining navigational equipment, and supervising cargo operations. They will also be responsible for keeping accurate records of navigation and cargo handling. Additionally, the 2nd Officer will participate in safety drills and training exercises to maintain a high level of safety awareness.

What we look for
- Holder of a valid Officer of the Watch (OOW) certificate of competency
- At least 12 months of experience as a deck officer on a merchant vessel
- Good knowledge of navigation, cargo handling, and safety procedures
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with crew members
- High school diploma or equivalent, with a focus on mathematics and physics
