Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a senior management level position on a Container Ship, responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of the vessel's engine department. This role requires strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers. The Chief Engineer will work closely with the Captain and other senior officers to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties include planning and implementing maintenance schedules, managing fuel consumption, and troubleshooting mechanical issues. They will also be responsible for training and supervising junior engineers, as well as conducting regular safety inspections and drills. The Chief Engineer will also ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including those related to safety, security, and environmental protection.

What we look for
- Must hold a valid Chief Engineer's Certificate of Competency (CoC) issued by a recognized maritime authority.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a similar type of vessel.
- Must have a strong knowledge of engine maintenance and repair, as well as safety and environmental regulations.
- Must have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage a team of engineers.
- Must be physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
