Role overview
The Chief Engineer is a senior management level position on a Crude oil tanker, responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the vessel's engine department. This role requires strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers. The Chief Engineer will work closely with the vessel's captain and other senior officers to ensure safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The Chief Engineer's day-to-day duties include overseeing routine maintenance and repairs, managing fuel consumption and optimizing engine performance. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, such as those related to pollution prevention and waste management. Additionally, the Chief Engineer will conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

What we look for
- Must hold a valid Chief Engineer's STCW/CoC certificate
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Chief Engineer on a similar type of vessel
- Must have a strong knowledge of engine maintenance and repair procedures
- Must have excellent leadership and communication skills
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
