The Chief Engineer will be the senior technical officer on a modern LPG carrier, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all propulsion and cargo plant systems. You will oversee the engine department, ensure compliance with class and flag regulations, and manage the vessel’s technical documentation.

Day‑to‑day duties include planning and supervising daily maintenance, monitoring performance of main and auxiliary machinery, and troubleshooting any breakdowns at sea. You will conduct regular inspections, manage spare parts inventory, and prepare technical reports for the shipowner. Coordination with the deck department for cargo operations and emergency drills is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • OK- Chief Engineer’s Certificate of Competency (COC) for gas carriers, STCW 2nd class
  • OK- Minimum 5 years sea service as Chief Engineer on LPG or gas tanker
  • OK- Approved training on LPG cargo handling and safety systems
  • OK- Strong knowledge of MARPOL, ISGOTT and class regulations
  • OK- Ability to lead a diverse engine department and communicate effectively
