The ETO is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of all electrical and electronic systems aboard a 8,000‑TEU container ship. This includes power generation, propulsion control, navigation electronics and cargo handling equipment. The role ensures compliance with classification society rules and flag state regulations.

Daily duties involve troubleshooting and repairing generators, switchboards and automation systems, performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance, and supporting the bridge crew with electronic navigation aids. The ETO also manages spare parts inventory, prepares technical reports, and coordinates with shore‑based technical support during voyages. All work is carried out while adhering to safety and environmental procedures.

Requirements

  • OK- STCW 2010 certification and valid Electro‑Technical Officer (ETO) CoC
  • OK- Minimum 3 years experience as ETO on a container ship or similar vessel
  • OK- Proficiency with high‑voltage systems, PLCs, and marine automation software
  • OK- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and classification society manuals
  • OK- Good command of English, both spoken and written
