Full Definition
Passage planning is required under SOLAS V/34 and IMO Resolution A.893(21). Four stages: appraisal (gather information), planning (lay route, check UKC, air draft, tidal gates), execution (monitor against the plan), and monitoring (update for changed conditions). The plan must be completed before departure and signed by the master. Electronic passage plans on ECDIS must carry the same safety-critical information as paper plans.
