Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Container Ship, responsible for maintaining and operating the vessel's engines and associated equipment. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work independently. The 2nd Engineer will report to the Chief Engineer and work closely with other crew members to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The 2nd Engineer's day-to-day duties will include performing routine maintenance and repairs on the vessel's engines and equipment, monitoring and analyzing performance data, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. The 2nd Engineer will also be responsible for managing spare parts and supplies, and for ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with safety and environmental regulations. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will participate in drills and training exercises to maintain and improve their skills and knowledge.

What we look for
- Must hold a relevant STCW/CoC certificate, such as a Chief Engineer's certificate of competency or a Second Engineer's certificate of competency.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a container ship or similar vessel.
- Must have a strong understanding of engine maintenance and repair, including diesel engines and associated systems.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Must be physically fit and able to pass a medical examination.
