Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Container Ship, responsible for maintaining and operating the vessel's engines and associated equipment. The role involves working closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the ship. The 2nd Engineer will also be involved in maintenance and repair work.
The day-to-day duties of the 2nd Engineer include monitoring and maintaining the vessel's engines, pumps, and other machinery, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks and repairs. The 2nd Engineer will also be responsible for managing fuel and lubricant supplies, and for ensuring that all engine department operations are carried out in accordance with safety and environmental regulations. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will be required to keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work.

What we look for
- Must hold a relevant STCW/CoC certificate, such as a Chief Engineer's certificate of competency.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a container ship or similar vessel.
- Must have a strong knowledge of engine maintenance and repair, as well as safety and environmental regulations.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Must be physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
