Role overview
The 2nd Engineer is a key member of the engine department on a Passenger ship, responsible for maintaining and operating the vessel's machinery and systems. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The 2nd Engineer will work closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the ship.
The 2nd Engineer's day-to-day duties will include performing routine maintenance and repairs on the ship's engines and associated systems, monitoring and analyzing performance data, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. The 2nd Engineer will also be responsible for supervising junior engineers and engine room crew members, and for ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the 2nd Engineer will participate in drills and training exercises to maintain and improve the ship's emergency response capabilities.

What we look for
- A valid STCW Second Engineer's Certificate of Competency is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on a similar type of vessel is required.
- A strong knowledge of engine room operations and maintenance is essential.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A valid medical certificate and proof of completion of a recognized engine room resource management course are also required.
